Craigslist is organised by metro, and it expects you to be in the one you post to. That single fact decides everything about how a proxy should be used here. A dealer with lots in two cities, a property manager with buildings in several markets, or a staffing agency that posts openings across a region all have a legitimate reason to appear from each metro they actually serve. Metro comes first

Craigslist geolocates your address to decide whether a posting looks local. Carrier IPs geolocate approximately, to a metro or a state, and that is exactly the resolution the site cares about. A line in our Houston fleet will read as the Houston area; it will not resolve to a suburb, and it does not need to. Choose the line by the market you are posting into, and post during that market's daytime. A Phoenix listing published at three in the morning Mountain time from an address that just appeared reads as odd whatever network it comes from. It matches the site's expectation that a poster in Chicago is in Chicago, and it means a Los Angeles account's traffic never shares an address with the Chicago one. Why a carrier address behaves differently from a datacenter one

Craigslist has spent years learning what datacenter and hosting ranges look like, and postings from them tend to be ghosted or held. A mobile carrier IP is the opposite case. Carrier-grade NAT means one public address is shared by many real phones at once, so the site cannot treat the address as a single actor without affecting a crowd of genuine local users. Rotate between accounts, hold while posting

Craigslist posting is a short workflow: log in, compose, upload photos, confirm by email or phone, publish. Keep the IP sticky for that whole sequence, because a mid-flow IP change can invalidate the session and leave a draft half-published. When you finish with one account and move to the next in the same metro, use the rotation link. The modem re-attaches to the carrier gateway and takes another address from the carrier's regional pool. Since the pool is finite, you will sometimes receive an address you had before; that is how carriers work and mirrors what a resident's phone does through a week.

How many accounts and listings per line

Craigslist's terms allow one account per person and limit how often the same item may be posted and in how many categories or cities. Those rules apply regardless of IP, and a proxy does not widen them. Within the rules, a business with permitted separate accounts, say one per branch or per property, can place two or three on a single metro line as long as each has its own browser profile, email and phone verification. The tradeoff is shared fate: if one account is flagged, the others on that address may be reviewed too. Keep the flagship account on its own line and never cross-post into cities where you do not operate. Reading Craigslist's silent failures

Ghosting, where a post confirms but never appears in search, is the classic signal. Before blaming the IP, check the content: repeated phrases across ads, identical photos reused in several posts, and phone numbers in the body are the usual triggers. A post that is flagged and removed within minutes is community flagging or a category mismatch, not a network issue. A phone-verification prompt on a new account is standard policy. If the site refuses to load at all, verify the line with a request to an IP-echo service, confirm the host, port and credentials, and confirm the metro shown matches the one you intended. Geolocation databases disagree; if in doubt, rotate and re-check.

Keep a simple record for each line: the metro, the accounts on it, the time of each rotation and the exit IP. When a listing disappears, that record tells you whether the network changed at that moment or whether the content drew a flag, and it stops you rotating in a panic when the address had nothing to do with it.
